John R. Montgomery

John R. Montgomery is a television writer-producer and an advertising industry veteran. He is the Founder of Montgomery Studios, a television development and production company. John’s past executive producer credits include Superior Donuts (CBS), the reboot of MadTV (CW) and The Crazy Ones (CBS). He was also the Writer/Creator of the CW web series Attention Deficit Theater, which made its debut at SXSW. Additionally, he served as a writer for the John Stamos vehicle Big Shot (Disney+). For The Crazy Ones, John received the unique credit of "Suggested by the Experiences of" since the lead character, Simon Roberts, portrayed by Robin Williams, was inspired by Montgomery and his career at the Leo Burnett advertising agency in Chicago. John is a member of the WGA, DGA, and the Television Academy.

Montgomery was previously an Executive Vice President, Executive Creative Director at the Leo Burnett Advertising Agency, and he continues to work with clients in a consulting capacity alongside his television work. While at Leo Burnett, he handled accounts including McDonald’s, Nintendo, Kellogg’s, Coca-Cola, Procter & Gamble, Allstate, 7-Up, Keebler, Green Giant, Miller Brewing Company, United Airlines, Kraft Foods, Nestlé, and Samsonite. Montgomery won numerous advertising awards including multiple Cannes Lions, Clio Awards, Addy Awards, and Effie Awards. Montgomery is the author of books that were distributed in McDonald's Happy Meals.
